From the very first pea planted in coastal California – my passion has been gardening. Non withstanding that I have been told by so called ‘experts’ that certain ideas I’ve had and accomplished – were not possible (but really were) – I love and am still awed by the creation of new life- with seeds, plants. I love to transform what is the mundane or barren into something extraordinary or life sustaining.
I have been blessed to have visited many conservatories and public as well as private gardens worldwide in the course of my travels which have given me inspiration for the gardens I have created.
I presently live in the high altitude climate of Northern Utah – Lehi, Utah County, Utah. I can’t say I’m a winter person and have definitely had a major transformation as to what I now consider cold. I was born in Venezuela (10 degrees from the equator – never experiencing cold) and lived most of my adult life in the nice warm confines of the Valley of the Sun in Phoenix, AZ.
The one constant I have had – I have needed to get my hands in the soil. My passion/avocation is gardening and landscape design. My philosophy is simple. Leave something beautiful behind you. I design and landscape as an inner need to beautify and leave life and soul sustaining ground.
I consult on design and gardening on a one to one basis and am available should you desire. My e-mail address is mcshanta at gmail.com
